Sodium salicylate is a bioactive, light-sensitive salt of sodium and salicylic (2-hydroxy benzoic) acid. It is used topically in creams, ointments or solution for the cleaning cattle, horses, sheep, goats and poultry wounds. Furthermore, salicylates have been studied as components for skin care creams and in dermatology.
